#GCMOPD Chief Thomas R. Alber Sworn In as President of the FBI- Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA)

Earlier this week, Garden City Police Chief Thomas Alber was sworn in as President of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, Inc. (FBI-LEEDA) at its 26th Annual Executive Training Conference held in Jacksonville, Florida, May 8 – 10, 2017.

“It is a great honor to serve as President of such an amazing association of law enforcement executives. I am proud to serve this distinguished national organization. It is both an honor for me personally and for our community.”

FBI-LEEDA is an association of law enforcement executives who have completed studies at the FBI Academy in Quantico or one of its regional command colleges.

There were over five hundred police executives in attendance including representatives from Canada, Australia and the Philippines. 

The conference attendees heard from FBI Director James Comey who addressed the group. Director Comey on Tuesday.

On Wednesday Chief John Horsman, Delaware Capitol Police was sworn in as First Vice President, Chief Dominic Rizzi of the Yakima Washington Police Department Second Vice President, Chief Joe Wellington of the Gower Missouri Police Department Third Vice President Sheriff Ira Edwards Jr. Clarke County Georgia was elected Sergeant-At-Arms. Later that evening, Chief Thomas Alber of the Garden City Missouri Police Department was sworn in as President.

Upon being sworn in, Chief Thomas Alber, will lead the 6,000 member association, consisting of members from the United States and 14 foreign countries, committed to maintaining the strong education programs and executive services at a reasonable cost to agencies. President Alber thanked the leaders in attendance for the commitment to their communities and the association. Chief Alber emphasized the importance of emotional well being of officers in our communities and the challenges officers face today.
